Review: Laneige Fresh Brightening Cleansing Oil

Review: Laneige Fresh Brightening Cleansing Oil

Double cleanse is the first and most crucial step in skin care. Without a clean canvas, the skin would not able to absorb the skin care products applied on the face effectively. The cleansing oil removes the layer of makeup and impurities that facial wash unable to remove.

At first, I use the small sized bottle, then I find that using the cleansing oil makes my skin less dull, I purchased the full-sized bottle. To be honest, Laneige is considered quite an expensive brand in Malaysia especially if you are a broke student like me (:B).

Price: RM 135 (RM 108 after 20% discount, Zalora) for 250ml

Butttt considering that one bottle can last over 6 months (yeahhh over 6 months!!!! in my experience la because a little goes a long way. I think it would last me a year 🙂 For 1-2 pumps is enough to cover the whole face

I have used both Heimish Cleansing Balm and Banila Co but Laneige is better! Heimish and Banila Co are both popular with their cleansing balm. Obviously they all remove the makeup, but I can see a difference when I’m using Laneige compared to those two. What difference? I can see my skin brighten up and look less dull. Since I have uneven skin tone I tend to find products that would help with brightening effect.

However, every skin is different, which means it works differently with everyone. Therefore it is best to purchase the trial size sample first before purchasing the full-sized bottle because you do not know if it works for your skin.

How to treat Scabies/ Cara merawat kudis buta

How to treat Scabies/ Cara merawat kudis buta

IMPORTANT: Mesti buat semua ni in order to treat scabies, at least in my case la, cannot leave even 1, have to do it together, or else it won’t be effective.

For my case, the infestation is quite severed, almost on the whole body, everywhere, except on my face. It is a very difficult and time consuming process but it is not impossible.

1. HOT SHOWER
Take shower with hot water for about 20-30 minutes around 2-3 times per day. I set the water heater close to the maximum, memang panas gilaaa, but I think it helps to kill the mites. Since it lives under the skin its very difficult to kill the eggs and mites, so showering with hot water at least would help to kill them.

2. SALT WATER
I learned the best and cheap way to sanitize a wound is by using salt water. Surprisingly it doesn’t hurt, and it helps to clean and healed it. I use sea salt diluted with water to clean the wound. It dries the wound and kill the bacteria. Memang tak sakit and luka cepat kering dan sembuh. If I’m not mistaken, the ratio I used was 1:10, sea salt: water. Penjagaan luka sangat sangat penting or else you will get an infection and worst case scenario, there would be a very high chance, luka tadi kena infected balik with the mites.

3. SULFUR SOAP
I read on some websites, it says turmeric soap would help, in my case it DOESN’T WORK AT ALL! There’s a lot of brands, to be honest I can’t differentiate if there is any difference in terms of effectiveness. But I can say, sulphur soap definitely helps. You can find it in almost every pharmacy.

4. SCABIES LOTION
Scabies lotion supposed to kill the mites. My doctor said leave it for 24 HOURS!!!! Seriously, DON’T!!!! It would make it worse. The doctor never had scabies, so he probably doesn’t know. Leave it about at least 8 hours ish. Usually for this 8 hours I would stay at home, don’t walk outside, to prevent sweating.

5. SANITIZATION
Soak clothing, anything that comes into contact with your skin, wash/soak with hot boiling water for minimum 15 minutes. Surface such as floors, boleh guna antibacterial liquids/wipes to sanitize it. Gadgets such as phones, I sanitized using alcohol pads at least once per day.

Note: This is solely based on my personal experience. I had scabies for around 5-6 months. The infestation is quite severe, and these are few steps that I practiced every single day in order to treat it.

To be continueddd

Hidayah

Apply Malaysia passport renewal through online

Easy, quick and quite efficient way to renew your passport. Skip the line and get your passport in less than 30 minutes (include the waiting time).

Yayyyy, dah siapp! 🙂

I didn’t realize my passport will be expired in 2 months, and the following day dah nak pegi. So cuma ada 1 hari je. That night, I applied on the website. The fees was RM200.

The next day, I went to UTC Pudu, besides the LRT station. Sepatutnya boleh pick up terus, but there’s a problem with my passport photo.

That time I can see quite a few of people waiting for the photos to be taken. Bila masuk, line up, gave the officer my passport, she gave me a waiting number ticket, I waited a few minutes.
Then, my number were called, took the photos.
Then, waited another few minutes, I received my new passport alreadyyy. I saw quite a number of people who actually waited there ahead of me but I received mine earlier. Amazingggg.

So guyss apply your passport online, then you can pick up at the preferred pick up location. Save yourself some time and energy 🙂

REVIEW: THE ORDINARY SKIN CARE (ASIAN SKIN) PART 1

REVIEW: THE ORDINARY SKIN CARE (ASIAN SKIN) PART 1

Who doesn’t love affordable skin care products? I have used The Ordinary since 2017. I bought their products that relevant to my skin concerns. I had dull, dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin. After trying these products, it makes me realise that western skincare isn’t for me, (except Lush and Body Shop, but then again they are quite expensive in Malaysia).

I know a lot of people rave about The Ordinary skin care, I feel like I’m a special case. My skin is quite damaged and thin, because before this I used Malaysian skin care in my teenage years, which caused my skin to be very sensitive (it contained mercury and who knows what other toxic chemicals they put inside). It’s very difficult to find products that work for me. I tried to educate myself as much as I can, and only use natural skincare products (if I can afford it :B)

IMPORTANT: After buying and trying more than 10 of The Ordinary product, I strongly advise people to determine first what is their skin problems, then maybe try 2 or 3, see if it works, then maybe you can purchase and try other product range. Especially if you are asian, I do

Let’s dive straight into the reviews;
My honest review of the products after consistent usage (ALMOST A YEAR)

Image result for e Ordinary Serum Foundation

The Ordinary Serum Foundation
Hmm. This product contains coconut oil, if you have sensitive skin you might want to check first if you are allergic to coconut oil. For me, it does cause me breakouts. I do love the consistency, its a bit mattifying. I don’t like the foundation because I had pimples the next day I used this. But after trying it again these days, when I applied it under my eyes there’s no crease, and the foundation looks better. So to avoid wasting the product, I used it like a concealer (light coverage btw) , just a little bit under my eyes, chins and on the forehead. Then, I used a cushion foundation over it. For now, no breakouts yet as long as I clean the makeup properly.
Final verdict: Will I buy this again? YEA AND NO. If I find a better foundation out there, then I may skip this one. I love COSRX Clear Fit Blemish Cushion more than this and have been using it over a year. But when I used this product a base it makes the COSRX foundation looks smoother.

Image result for Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
So this product supposed to illuminate your complexion. I do realise that when I used this product it helps to calm my acne, in terms of brightening maybe no I do look the same 😂
Final verdict: Will I buy this again? NO. Because I can use the Klairs Toner, and it works better.

Then we have Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA . I used this in combination with Niacinamide as suggested on the website. Hmm. Again when used together it helps to calm my acne, it shrinks a little, hmm but in terms of consistency, I prefer Klairs Toner, it’s more moisturising.

Image result for Caffeine solution 5% + EGCG

Caffeine solution 5% + EGCG
This product supposed to reduce puffiness under your eyes. It actually works, unless if you overslept (ehemm, like me~) or not enough sleep, then that’s another story. When I used this at night, the next day the double line that appears under the eyes when smiling is gone. It’s basically become one layer, no crease whatsoever! 😂 However, I don’t think it will help with the dark circles. I’m actually quite surprised I liked this product.
Final verdict: Will I buy this again. Hmmm maybe, 80% YES 20% NO. If you already have a good eye mask, then don’t purchase this, save your money for better products 😂

WHY I’M NOT GONNA REPURCHASE?
I’m trying to limit my skin care to only the products that I love the most, that my SKIN CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT IT, they would literally die if I don’t use them. That’s how I chose the products that I want to repurchase, these products however have better alternates. So yeah, that’s my honest review. If you’re reading this deciding whether to buy or not, hmmm maybe if you reallyyy want to try, just buy one first, see if it works for your skin. I just feel like there’s something better out there 😁😁😁 But then again, its your money to spend, so if you have extra money, and realllyy want to try these products, there’s no harm in trying. I read soo many positive reviews online. However, for now, I stand firm with what I previously said before, western skin care does not work that well with my Asian skin (obviously with few exceptions, certain brands are just phenomenal such as Lush but they are quite expensive, for a student like me 😅) .

WHERE TO BUY?
You can buy them at LAZADA and even Shopee have these products. I would probably buy from Shopee, last time I checked, the price was quite cheap. International shipping for example Beauty Bay and Zest Beauty offers free shipping to Malaysia for orders above a certain amount.
That’s it! BTW I have watched a Malaysian youtuber, he changed my life. Whatever tips he gave definitely works, at least for me. He taught me it is useless to use all kinds of products if you don’t clean the skin properly and protect it from the sun.
1. Double Cleanse. I never forget to double cleanse nowadays. And to be honest I don’t have acne since then except when I’m having my period 😅
2. Always always always use a sunscreen. And these days I wear a cap or an umbrella for extra protection from the scorching hot sun.

Stay hydrated and healthy 🙂

Cheers,

Hidayah

Review: The Ordinary (Asian skin)

DISCLAIMER: I don’t have the perfect skin. My skin was damaged due to the use of Malaysian skin care products which infamously contained mercury. Since then the struggle to find the products that works for my skin continues until today 🙂

Skin problems: very sensitive, acne-prone, hyperpigementation, get sunburn easily

PART 1 REVIEW: https://wordpress.com/block-editor/post/norhidayahkadir.wordpress.com/520

What did I used:

Morning routine:

Night routine:

  • Laneige Fresh Brightening Cleansing Oil
  • Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser
  • Neogen Bio-peel Gauze Peeling Lemon Exfoliator (sometimes The Ordinary AHA BHA)/ Freeman Charcoal and Black Sugar Gel Mask and Scrub
  • Cosrx AHA BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
  • Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence (finished, will repurchase, for now maybe not, because I had too many products already)
  • Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%
  • Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%
  • Cosrx OIL-FREE Ultra-Moisturizing Lotion with Birch Sap (sometimes)

What  I have tried?

Which The Ordinary product(s) I would repurchase?

I found that when I combined these two products together, it helps to prevent acne and moisturize the skin.

COSRX VS THE ORDINARY

COSRX! I would repurchase every single COSRX products I have tried (except the Honey Overnight Sleeping Mask). Why? I had dry and acne prone skin, the COSRX products I have tried definitely helps my skin a lot in a long term; helps to fade the acne scars, moisturize the skin, prevent acne and brighten the skin. The Ordinary products on the other hand, the effect is very subtle and you need to combine the use of one product with another in order to increase the effectiveness. I feel like its better to buy a serum that does the job than combination of multiple cheap serums (at the end of the day, you would spend more). Overall, to be honest COSRX does a better job. Therefore, I would definitely recommend COSRX products to people with acne prone and sensitive skin like me.img_20180212_225636

Some of the products that I am using (some are not here, probably I donated the products to my sister already)

Myrapid Concession Card Student/Pelajar

Myrapid Concession Card Student/Pelajar

Application for myrapid concession card students are easy and pretty quick. The waiting time depends on the line. Mine was number 22 (came in the morning), it took me about 15 minutes before my number was called. But worry not, when it was your turn, the waiting time is not that long.

Once you entered the room, it took less than 5 minutes for the whole process. I think I read somewhere before this people had to wait 2 weeks for the card to be collected. Actually you get your card straight away now. If I knew I don’t have to wait that long I had done it earlier without worrying about the waiting time.

University student; Confirmation letter from university (That’s it!). Oh don’t forget to bring your ORIGINAL IC. Bring your own pen so it’s easier to fill up the form.

Fees: RM 15. Value in the card; RM9.50

The confusing public transport system in Malaysia (Part 1)

The confusing public transport system in Malaysia (Part 1)

I remembered helping someone who is confused over how to go to LRT Pasar Seni. As a Malaysian, I felt very embarrassed not being able to help them that much. When I arrived at home, I did my homework and studied the map, it is quite confusing but once you understand them, it is actually pretty easy.

Apparently, a few years ago each of the train station lines was owned by different private companies and later the government bought them which is now called “Rapid KL”. And that explains why the systems are quite unorganized and messy which cause confusion to the public.

Klang Valley Rail Transit Map

Blue: Seremban Line, Red: Port Klang Line- aka Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Komuter

Orange: Ampang Line, Dark Red: Sri Petaling Line, Pink: Kelana Jaya – aka LRT

Purple: KLIA Express Line, Light blue: KLIA Transit Line aka ERL (alternative public transport explained below)

Light green: KL Monorail Line

Dark green: MRT Line

Bandar Tasik Selatan (Blue, Dark red, Light green, Purple)

2

As you can see from the picture, the small vertical white line basically means the station is a connected to these train stations, in this case, KTM (Seremban Line), LRT (Sri Petaling Line), KL Monorail Line and KLIA Express line.

  1. What if you want to go to; KL Sentral? then take KTM.
  2. What if you need to take LRT Kelana Jaya Line, then you need to go to KL Sentral because it is connected to Kelana Jaya Line.

KL Sentral (Blue, Red, Pink, Light Green, Purple)

1KL Sentral serves as a connection point to many train stations; KTM komuter (both Seremban and Port Klang Line), LRT (Kelana Jaya), ERL (both KL Monorail Line and KLIA Express Line) and MRT Line.

  1. It connects everything, except these two, LRT Ampang Line and Sri Petaling.
  2. There’s a mall here, NU Sentral and it closed at 10pm, so if you have an early morning flight, and need a place to chill, consider visiting this place. Plus, there’s a lot of restaurants and shops also.
  3. What if you want to go to; PWTC (LRT Ampang Line), from KL Sentral, take train LRT Kelana Jaya, stop at Masjid Jamek, change station, take LRT Ampang Line to Sentul Timur (Sentul Timur is the final destination).
  4. WARNING: Make sure you take the train going in the correct direction. Sometimes, I took the train going to the wrong direction, if that happens just change train going to the opposite direction.

TIPS:

  1. A cheaper alternative to go to KLIA instead of taking KLIA Express. Search online and find a bus to go there. I book mine from BTS station, there’s also buses from KL Sentral and Evolve Mall.
  2. If buying online, for instance at BTS station, just go to one of the counters to collect your hard copy ticket.
  3. Fare: depending on where you take the bus, from BTS station around RM 11, 60 (A LOT cheaper than taking KLIA Express).
  4. Where to put luggage? Bandar Tasik Selatan or KL Sentral. These two stations have luggage storage services.

Any questions, please comment below 🙂

Hidayah

How to go to taman connaught pasar malam by public transport

How to go to taman connaught pasar malam by public transport

As far as I know, there are 2 ways to go to Taman Connaught Pasar Malam/ Night Market by public transport;

From Bandar Tasik Selatan and from MRT Taman Connaught.

Option 1

  1. You can take MRT from KL Sentral or from the nearest MRT station where you are. Stop at MRT Taman Connaught you can take a bus from the station.
  2. WhereThe bus stop is located just under the bridge near Cheras Sentral Mall. If you can’t find it, feel free to ask the staff at the station counter. Just mention you need to take a MRT bus to Bandar Tasik Selatan (TBS) station as the same bus would take passengers to TBS station. Tell the driver beforehand you need to stop at Taman Connaught (where the night market is). If you’re going on Wednesday, the bus stop is the 1st stop from the MRT Connaught.
  3. Fare: RM 1
  4. IMPORTANT NOTE: The bus didn’t accept cash in the moment, please make sure you have your Touch n Go card or Rapidkl card with you. And also make sure to tap out whenever you leave the bus.

Option 2

  1. Take a bus from TBS station. The same bus as the 1st option, but this bus is actually to MRT Taman Connaught.
  2. Where: The bus stop is located near the exit of TBS station by the “Park n Ride Tasik Selatan” (parking lot).
  3. Fare: RM 1
  4. Warning: 5pm onwards, until 8pm is the peak hours, plus the night market thing going on, the traffic can get a bit ugly. It would take some time, nope, longg time for you to arrive (depending on the traffic, sometimes its not that busy).

Option 3

  1. The bus is quite frequent since it connects MRT Taman Connaught and Bandar Tasik Selatan station.
  2. But, if you wait too long, you can take Grab/Uber from there. MRT Taman Connaught is closer to the area so the fare would be cheaper from there.

My advice?

Go for Option 1, from my observation, I lived nearby btw, the traffic from MRT Taman Connaught is a bit better compared to Option 2.

Does it worth a visit?

You are asking the wrong person. I just feel like this place is just too much hype, there’s less variety of food. Almost all the food they sell here is Chinese food which I can’t eat. I only came whenever I’m out of fruits and vegetables (which I can buy in Giant at any day, any time). But that doesn’t mean you should not go. Okay, I’m sorry but I have to say this, if you want to try more authentic Malaysian cuisine then this is not the place.

This article is solely based on my personal experience and my own opinion.

Trip to Ho Chi Minh City (from Kuala Lumpur)

Trip to Ho Chi Minh City (from Kuala Lumpur)

Our flights are not delayed, in fact, we arrived earlier than the expected time. In order to save money, I booked an apartment near Ben Tanh market and shared with my sister and her friend. I also used budget airlines to book our flight tickets (AirAsia and Vietjet).

TIPS: Compare different booking sites for flights and accommodation, I used Traveloka to book Vietjet and Airasia website to book Airasia tickets.

Total per person (for flight ticket and accommodation) = RM 313.30 (including baggage allowance, shared 3 persons) 1st flight; 20kg, 2nd flight; 40kg

Transportation

We used Uber and Grab, a trip to Ben Tanh Market from the airport (~25 minutes drive) is around 80k Vnd dong~ RM 15. But the price would double during peak hours. Travelling around the city is cheaper if you used Uber/Grab bike, but I didn’t book them because it is cheaper and safer to travel by car (total 3 passengers).

Taxi. If you are used to book the taxi to go around the city, I don’t see why you should not. BUT, from my experience Grab/Uber offered cheaper fare, the driver is more friendly and we had a great conservation with the drivers. AND we are being lied to the first time when we use the taxi service, from then on, I only use Grab/Uber whichever is available and cheaper.

Screenshot_20171006-015444
One of our ride with Grab, 86k VND ~ RM 16, from the airport to Ben Thanh market is around 20-25 minutes. Price is double when we booked from our accommodation to the airport, so I suggest to leave early and avoid peak hours

Arrive at night? Don’t know where to go? 24 hours shops!

We arrived in the early morning and had nowhere else to go so we went to nearest 24 hours cafe, very expensive! I would highly suggest you go to Circle K (24 hours supermarket like 7 eleven). There are few tables inside the supermarket and you can eat simple food with cheaper price.

Fruits/ Food

Fruits sold around Ben Tanh market can be very expensive. It is overpriced. I bought fruits from a small shop near Ben Tanh. It is sold at a fixed price and cheaper. If you buy from the street, MAKE SURE TO OPEN THE PACKAGE to ensure that the fruit is fresh. Generally, food prices depend on where you dine, mainly in the HCM city pricing is quite expensive if converted to ringgit.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Hygiene

You can find rats running around almost all the time. I think it is a normal scene as everyone doesn’t look shocked as I am. They are more visible at night. So, I only go to restaurants which I believe is clean enough. This is my personal preference if you don’t mind, then just dine in anywhere else, but don’t blame other people if you get sick.

Language

From my experience, most drivers or the people here can’t understand English. Some yes, like the tour guide, the people who usually met tourists. It is quite hard actually trying to talk to the local. If you are at the Ben Tanh Market, the seller can understand and speak Malay. And most transaction is in Ringgit as well which is a huge plus!

Price

I think the price of the goods was quite expensive. This is when your negotiation skills were tested. Sometimes you can get half the initial price they offered. In terms of food, there’s a street near Ben Tanh Market that sells halal food and almost everyone there can speak and understand Malay. Price of the food, I feel like it is quite the same in KL. If you are to shop bring money in Ringgits

For instance, Banh Mi, 50,0000 VND which is around RM8.

Would I go here again?

Hmm, if it is not for shopping I won’t come here again, if your main purpose is for vacation or backpacking, I feel like there’s a lot of places in Malaysia worth visiting.

The Ordinary Skin Care : Free shipping to Malaysia

The Ordinary Skin Care : Free shipping to Malaysia

I found out about The Ordinary from a famous makeup artist and YouTuber, Wayne Goss. It catches my attention right away, I love how the company practices transparency with their customers and not bullshitting (sorry for saying this, but I hate skin care companies who exaggerated and promises stuffs to their customers and the end results are the opposite as what they ‘promised’).

I  was just browsing random websites and found asos. Later I found out they actually sell The Ordinary skin care products. I splurged my money on Hermo (during their Anniversary Sale) and Zalora (for raya clothing). So I don’t have any more allowance to buy something else. That’s a life of a student. But I have to be grateful as not everyone can afford to buy a skin care products for themselves right. Okay, back to the story. Promised to myself, I would use the next month allowance to buy them :).

Nope, not true. That’s not happening. I bought them, yup, huh, these stuffs better works!

What I buy?

Screen Shot 2017-06-29 at 11.09.16 PM

The total is around RM 118. In my opinion, it is reasonably priced.

Price

Usually, serums cost more than RM80 per bottle, the cheapest I ever bought for 30 ml is around RM 90 (Andalou Naturals Enlighten Serum, Tumeric+Vit C). So, these are considered quite cheap.

The websites (These websites offered free international shipping, there are others, but these offered the same price as the company’s website ex: Victoriahealth.com)

  1. http://www.zestbeauty.com/the-ordinary-magnesium-ascorbyl-phosphate-10-30ml.
  2. htmlhttps://row.adorebeauty.com/the-ordinary.
  3. https://www.beautybay.com/l/theordinary/  (Free for orders above $30)

Note: I saw in Instagram that some people sell products from this line, but I feel that it is cheaper to buy directly from these online stores. But let me know if there is a cheaper option though! 🙂

Shipping

What a surprise! I received the item from Pos Laju, a week after the date of purchase. In my opinion, it is quite fast. Anyway, shipping to Malaysia is free! Yes! However, take note shipping is free if you purchase over a certain amount, in my case the total amount has to be over £20.

Promo code

I tried to find a promo code to use for asos but couldn’t find any. As for  zestbeauty, there’s  also no promo code, one day I put items in my cart, and didn’t check out, a few days later they sent me 5% promo code, then 10%. Wuuu don’t try to seduce me!

The package

The items are well packaged, there is a slight dent on the box, but the items are fine.

p/s: I already bought my second purchase for other products from this line through asos 🙂

REVIEW (My honest review after using The Ordinary over 6 months)

Update

13 Jan 2019:  Hermo is currently selling products from this brand. You can find it here-> https://www.hermo.my/brand/765-theordinary/?ucf=search

If you don’t mind paying more then you can purchase the products in Hermo. But if you want cheaper option and don’t mind waiting (like me, ehem), then you can find any online shopping websites from overseas that offer international shipping.

14 Jan 2019: You can find The Ordinary products literally everywhere nowadays. Shopee, Lazada, Instagram etc

25 March 2019: Upon checking on the website, ASOS no longer shipped The Ordinary products to Malaysia. Sorry I didn’t realize because I haven’t bought any The Ordinary products from ASOS for quite some time.

“This product does not ship to Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Indonesia, Iceland, New Zealand, Singapore, Turkey, Malaysia and Ukraine”
